Working in engineering I see things that companies have had other companies build that just aren’t up to par. I don’t consider myself anything special I just do my research on the right way to do things.Welding Stainless steel is a perfect example, there are some incredible stainless welders around who really do a good job. But then there are some who either don’t care or are just ignorant to the requirements for dealing with stainless steel. It’s funny how you can have shops that claim to be specialty places but they almost don’t know what wires to use, what gas, how stainless reacts to oxygen. Sometimes I wonder if some shops don’t know much beyond mild steel with stick or basic Mig. I have had times where you tell a shop the way something should be done and they just don’t get it. They are in “She’ll be right mate” mindset. Maybe I expect to much. I don't understand the Zea-land part. There isn't much corn grown there, the hills being planted in rows of big sticks [Pinus radiata] and the lower lands known for fields of the Chinese Goosberry [Actinidia chinensis] with Gorse protecting the hedgerows. Then you go name the berry after a dead bird [Kiwi] to make it more popular? Nui to you, too...with this thread starting to go in circles [Roundabouts?], are you sure you're not from Rotarua?

Kiwi's aren't dead still plenty around. The Zealand is because there is a place in europe callend Zealand so they named us New Zealand. I guess the same way that in America you have New England.To be perfectly honest I don't care what direction this thread goes. I was more ranting about something I saw today that someone I know had ordered that was supposed to be done by a quality place and was all kinds of terrible.

And I'm picking on you because you didn't tell us enough that we could enjoy the details, or join in the rant. Years ago, I worked one day for a self-employed roofer; I quit because I wouldn't do the quick but shoddy work he did. Ended up working most of the summer for a bigger company, laying sub-flooring on a multi-story steel building, and putting steel brackets at joints of gluebeams using large spikes (at least, seemed like it); this at a one story school with circular rooms and later, moveable walls. Seemed one inspector per apprentice and if I bent a spike even a bit, it got removed and a new one driven home.[ Zea is a genus for grass that includes corn].
