Doing some fill in work while I wait to get called back to my biggest contract. I went to look at this trucks "frozen hinges" and said it was unfixable. Cust. says, I have another bed can we put that on it. I say....sure.So I have to cut +/- 4' out of the middle'ish of the white bed to make it fit the 10' bed location, I may just cut 10" off the front seeing how I'll have to close off the front tower in the box. And then cut out what I need and weld the front back on. Fab a new hinge mount system. All I had to do to release the hinge section was lower the bed across the 3X. The hinges stayed in the same position they were in.Remove the front ram on the "new bed", the ram/lift on the truck works fine and doesn't seep. Now he needed me to start this today because he rented a 20ton JD Excavator for a month. All I could think was, making sure your dump truck works should of came before the start date on your rent.I think I can have him dumping in 6 days or less.

Reply:As far as "6 of one,,, a half dozen of the other,,,"Would it have been possible to lengthen the truck frame, and leave the dump body one piece??

Reply:It looks to be a crap truck.  The rear portion of the frame is just about toast.  Looks to be a one, and done, sell it when the job's over kinda deal.  Definitely not a keeper.
Reply:Even the mid frame is crap.  You can see the rust lift(jacking?).  I'd hate to run this thing, let alone be the poor dope that buys it later at auction.Slap that puppy on there, get yer check, and move on

Reply:You can get salt spreader trucks for dimes on the dollar on online auctions.  Buyer beware, they're pure trouble.
Reply:When I lived in Durango, they took the clinkers from the D&RG, and spread them on the streets after a snow storm.  Stuff was black, soaked up the sunshine, and melted the ice.  Only problem..........the sulfur in the coal was highly corrosive, and tore up the spreaders, and the cars that had to drive on the streets. In the Winter, you just drove on snow nights, and only to the bar.  Important stuff, you walked ROFL.Was a party town.  You couldn't walk down Main Street without passing a bar.  My favorite was the Golden Slipper, and Farquahrts.  Slipper was wild, and open............the other had the best pizza in town + schnaps, and tequila specials all night long. Was at the Slipper one night, and saw a dood shot over a pool game.  It was a jumpin' bar.Same with some of the bars in Denver, when I still drove for a living.  Hard hangouts that taught you to be civil when you dealt with people.Online behavior blows me away these days.  Most of the crap you see, would not fly in a real environment.  You'd get your head handed to you on a platter. Was a bar in North Denver.  I can't remember the name, but it was a gangster hangout back in the day.  You minded your manners, and so did everybody else.  These guys were armed.  I never met more of a polite bunch of people in my life.  The stakes were high if you were an azzhole.  Funny thing, a hoot actually, and no bullsht................the bartender stood in a trench sorta thing behind the bar.  The floor was below the level of the main floor in the bar. It's a balz thing.  Patrons liked to see the bartender below them.  It's a power thing.  Domination.  This was a no nonsense sorta place.  And...........if all Hell broke loose, the bartender was below the line of fire.  I'M NOT KIDDING.  I frequented some pretty strange places in my youth.  BUT I GOTTA TELL YA.........THE AZZHOLE QUOTIENT WAS LESS THAN YOU SEE ON THIS WEBSITE.Two Mule Inn in Denargo Market(Denver), back in the late 70's....................had seatbelts on the barstools(a humor thing), but you could mess with someone, and wind up in an ambulance, or a coroners van.  These were tough places. We used to get paid every Friday.........EVERY PLACE I EVER WORKED.........NOT LIKE NOWADAYS.  There was this bar on Washington Street that catered to the Mexican guys that worked in the packing plants/slaughterhouses.  You took your paycheck to this barred window, and got tokens for the value of your paycheck.  Then you sat there, and drank through the night, and had something to eat.  At the end of the evening, when you're ready to head home, you stopped by that barred window, and turned in your remaining tokens, and got cash in return.I never got hurt, and always got respected.  Not like the punks online, or the punks in today's bars.  Life was different.  And..............I was never a tough guy.  I was just a normal guy.
Reply:To the OP...................  I always sorta get off topic with your posts.  Mainly because I like them, and they're the real deal.  It always leads me to thinking about other things, so I post 'em up.  Don't mean to crap up the thread.  Never bothers me when others get off topic with my stuff.  To me, it's all good.

Reply:And the op gets paid whether the truck is junk or not as long as it works.
Reply:As I said...................................... get the check, and don't look back(shrug)Long box, despite pure thoughts, will get overloaded (shrug)
