Cutting steel tube

Hello everyone, I am expanding my business and need a means to cut steel tube efficiently and professionally. The tube that I most commonly cut is 21 foot sections of 2 inch standard, which is slightly over an 1/8th inch wall thickness. The thickest metal cut would be 3/8 thick 6 inch pipe. What cutting method do you recommend I invest in to perform this task?
Reply:my vote would be either a dry cut saw or horizontal bandsaw. choice wound be determined by space and budget.:

Reply:You’re golden. I like to think you won’t get a decent horizontal bandsaw for that budget but there will be others here who will tell you how to spend all your spare time redesigning a Harbor Freight unit to work. Used quality units are an option if you are so inclined. A good  new dry cut saw will work well with money to spare. I will leave it to other members to suggest what has worked well for them.  You should be able to wade through the advice to determine what works best for YOUR circumstances. Reply:Thank you for your honest comment. I was looking at horizontal bandsaw’s and when I looked at was much cheaper. Perhaps I’m not looking at quality. Could you help show me what a quality horizontal bandsaw looks like?
Reply:I am always hesitant to make suggestions here without knowing “the big picture”Here is a link for what I would consider a “light industrial” line of quality equipment. I am by no means suggesting this is the saw for you….https://ellissaw.com/mitre-band-saw-...itre-band-saw/Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk:
Reply:I love my Ellis 1600 horizontal bandsaw. No problem cutting 6'' or 8'' pipe or cutting 2'' tube eight at a time is no problem. With a bandsaw, you can have it cutting while you do something else and still keep a watch on saw. A bandsaw with a 1'' wide blade is really nice for straight square cuts.I built unistrut material supports for both sides and a full width material stop. I used a disc blade with double rollers for long materials.

Reply:Expand your budget just a bit and get a 7x12 with coolant capability is my suggestion.  I use a Klutch branded one from Northern Tool, but the pretty much all come from the same places overseas as can be seen from the similarities.  I paid $950 for it back in the day, but you can expect to pay around $1200 in today's prices for a similar unit.  If you take the time to learn how to use it and set it up properly, you have cuts that are very precise.  One thing you have to accept is the markings on the side that are supposed to guide you for angled cuts is off and you must set it up with other means to get it to cut square.  You still have to check/setup the blade angle anyways to make sure the blade itself is perfectly vertical anyways, so it comes with the territory at this price point.  But once you do, it just cuts, cuts, cuts, cuts.   You can also rewire the saw and the coolant pump for 240V if you choose to do so, but it works perfectly fine on 120V as well.  It's no Ellis that's for sure, but hey...it cuts and the cuts are square.  I mean what else is there

Here is mine on a rolling base after I removed the stock wheels that don't turn.

Great for repeatability when you need many parts of equal length.

Reply:These 7x12’s which are similar to Oscars were around $1000 Cdn 20 years ago.

They are in the $5-600 Cdn range locally for used good condition, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Older model Ellis purchased for $450 and then refurbished and  a Makita dry cut saw purchased new.  Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Reply:Bandsaws?! Dry cut saw?!? What you NEED is a power hacksaw! All you've gotta do is put your stock in the vise, cut the machine on, wait about half an hour and BAM! You now have a nice piece of 2" 14 gauge tubing cut most of the way through and sorta squareish.Sent from my Lincoln Buzzbox using Tapatalk

Reply:Based on the capacity that you specified I would pick a cold saw.  Quicker to cut.  More accurate.  Easier to set angles.Based on your budget I would pick this.https://www.trick-tools.com/S355MCS-...-TCT-Saw-18392
Reply:What volume cutting are you doing?  How fast do you need it done? How much can you load on a machine at one time?  Can you feed it.Bandsaw.  Gang and weld cutting will out do most chop saws.  And you can walk away.   Chop saws in your price range are manual and will make long days feeding and cutting. Blades can be expensive on the front of the learning curve.   You need a great vise on any saw for round stock.  Miter cut are hard and material will walk.
Reply:A bandsaw with a 3/4" blade or large.A 1/2" will work but end may need be clean for a straight cut but upside you pickup for under $250.00 new.Dave
