Lincoln vs Miller Comparison - Newbie questions

I've been checking out the Lincoln and Miller Tig welders, reading the comparisons on the Lincoln site, and I'm now confused more than ever.If you read the Lincoln Precision Tig 225 vs Miller Syncrowave 200 comparison, and the Lincoln Precision Tig 275 vs Miller Syncrowave 250 comparison, on the Lincoln site, a novice like me would think that buying a Lincoln over a Miller is being silly.I'd like to buy a Tig welder that can be used to build drag car chassis (up to .134 MS and CM tubing, up to .250 inch MS and CM plate), I think the Lincoln 225 or Miller 200 Tig machines might be sufficient, but I'm thinking it would be better to go with the bigger Lincoln 275 or Miller 250 to be safe and allow for future options.The more I read, the more I am torn between understanding and not understanding what I should do, it starts to become clear and then it gets muddy.Based on my criteria above, I wish someone would tell me to buy one or the other so I can get on with it.Thanks so much.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.

Reply:OCC means nothing. Did you ever see one of their bikes up close? Not very nice. Sloppy welds, zip ties not cut flush, leaks. Everyone thinks they are craftsmen, but 90% of the metal on their bikes is somebody elses work.

Reply:Guys, I went to the local Lincoln dealer today to discuss the options, he is advising that the Lincoln Precision TIG 225 would be perfect for what I want to do, seems to be within my budget, so I'm thinking this might be my best approach.I'm going to check with an electrician about running the wiring to my garage that I would need.Regards to all.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.

Reply:Guys, I checked with my Insurance Company to determine if there would be any problem putting a TIG Welder in my garage workshop, here's the reply:Hi Mr. Sim,I just spoke with our underwriting department and was advised that the welder is fine so long as you do not have a wood stove in your garage. Also, it would be covered under the personal property section of the policy so we would not have to make any ammendments.If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.
