Reply:You got it right Samm, That cable is called a "bridle". It hangs on the "horse's head". The horse's head is attached to the front of the "walking beam". Just some oil field terminology. They are all magnatized after being used. Calls for 7018 and some cussin'. I really don't know where to buy any now unless some of the oil companies still sell them when they get too bad for downhole use.Last edited by Oldtimer; 04-27-2009 at 08:40 PM.
Reply:Around here in North Texas, you can purchase sucker rods from $6.00-$10.00 each (used), depending on diameter and how good they are. They come in 30' joints +/- a little, and usually in 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", and 7/8" diameters. I dont know how much oilfield business goes on up there, but oilfield pipe and supply places will have them. If a company plugged an old well, they leave them laying on the ground, sitting on blocks alot of the time. You might talk with a lease operator about selling some. Plain ol' round bar bought new is another option unless you really want sucker rod, and it wont be magnatized or pitted by salt water..............................."Look Good Doing It"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
