Got an awesome pair of aviators in switzerland and one of the arms broke off. Im looking to do some simple home welding if possible. Can anyone help me?

Reply:If they are really nice glass frames you might find someone to repair through an optometrist.  Usually they are silver brazed construction.  There are ways to rejoin using very precise sources of heat to avoid discolouring.  Another source would be a jewelry smith/gold smith.
Reply:they weren't expensive at all, its a pretty thin piece of metal. i am definitely not expecting them to last forever i would just like to be able to wear them occassionally. any home welding techniques?
Reply:you could always pick up jewelry making as a hobby, then fix the glasses yourself.
Reply:Get your self a high intensity butane torch for hobby work...  look up "the brazing book" and select a silver solder and flux then go for it.... You will likely damage the plating but it can be done.... Years ago I was a popular person in a federal prison.  You can have very cooperative inmates when they realize that you can repair their glasses.  I used a simple easlyflo 45, standard silver brazing flux and the smallest tip on the acetylene torch which was really still too big.http://www.lucasmilhaupt.com/index.html
