I am looking at two welders and want some input of what you think. I was priced a Lincoln 180C w/ two extra spools of wire and a nice auto/dim helmet for 800.00. The other unit is the millermatic 211 for 955.00 and then they have the 75.00 rebate through Miller until the end of July. What are your thoughts on these two machines and are these prices good? I really like that the millermatic 211 has the dual voltages built in. I will be using the machine for general auto/garage work and won't need it for anything larger than 1/2 material. Thanks for any help.
Reply:mack   I would definitely go with the 211 miller.More power ,accuset and much prettier blue color not to mention the greatest  customer service on the planet. And there is always the resale value after 15 or twenty years         FelonCaution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a  24 of MGD"
Reply:Miller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go hot, or go home!
Reply:What about price on either model. I don't mind paying more if that is the better machine but does the MM211 price sound good or can I do better. My company does alot of business with them.

Reply:I got a quote of $1025 for  a 211 with a cart from my LWS - so you're $955 price for the welder sounds pretty decent. Internet folks can sometimes be cheaper - but I like supporting the local folks and having the face-to-face support if need be. Your'e spending $1K - $50 one way or another isn't that big of deal!Miller Dynasty 200DXHypertherm PowerMax 45Victor OAIR CompressorLots of blacksmithing tools and other fun toys meant to creatively disfigure, reshape, manipulate and join metal.
Reply:See many posts / threads like this one.Why dont you get the LWS/Manufacturer demo them for you and try them out for yourself and buy the one that you like the best ?

Reply:i like the 211 you can use 115 or 230
Reply:I just got my 211 and love it - I have 220 in my garage for bigger stuff but I love that I can plug it in anywhere and weld. Works great, looks great and the price was right.Ray DMiller 211TANSTAAFL  N 40º 11' 31.6" W 82º 55' 9.5"
Reply:I've used both machines and think they are both great welders.  I was about to get my own Lincoln 180C before I found out about the Miller 211.  I went with the Miller because I liked that it had a little more capacity, but what really sold me was that I could plug it into 110V or 220V.  With the $75 rebate the cost difference was not enough to sway me to the Lincoln.  Glad I went with the 211, I've been using it quite a bit for about two months now and its performed really well.Miller 211Miller Diversion 180Hypertherm Powermax 45Miller Spoolmate 100Miller 30FX Arcstation

Reply:The Miller is the better choice by far. Way better duty cycle, amps, and resale. Also the 211 is a dual voltage machine so you can run on 110 or 220 volts.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:The mid-900's price on the 211 is indeed a good price, and even better with the $75 rebate.   I have welded with the 211 but not the Lincoln 180C.   I'm sure the Lincoln is a fine machine, but with the capabilities of the 211 and the price, I would get the 211.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
ReplyLincoln/Miller, which one?efinitely go with the Miller 211AS. I have tried mine on both 110v and 220v. For normal projects and things up to 3/16", I just leave mine on 110v. The autoset feature is great if you are starting out. I did a lot of welding with my Miller 140AS and almost always used the Autoset setting. The 211AS Autoset is for .030 and .035 wire. I'm trying to use up the rest of my .024 wire, so I just use the chart to get the setting. The arc is very smooth and I am happier with my beads with it than the 140AS.Plus when your buddy needs you to come to his house and weld something, you can plug it in without worrying about finding a dryer plug-in or wiring a new circuit. Just a great welder, and that is a VERY good price. Jump on it, you will not be sorry you did.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com

Reply:The thing with welding equipment is not to become colorblind.   Any new piece needs to be researched.  The next piece may very well need to be Red,  Maroon or Yellow.
