ot of mountain bike frames are 7xxx too. Think 7005 is one fairly commonly used alloy.Lincoln PT185 TIGLincoln 175 MIGLincoln 240 amp AC StickLind Needle Arc plasma welderPlasma cutter, soon???
Reply:From what I understand, Honda uses a mix of different alloys in their frames, mostly 6061 and a proprietary 7000 series alloy. I am using 6061 for a new engine cradle in my CR125 chassis.Linde/Union Carbide HDA-300Hobart RC-250Lincoln AC-225Lincoln WeldPak 100 Hobart Stickmate LX Victor OxyAcetylene
Reply:6061 t3 most likely. Extrusions will not likely be 7000 series, as they are welded to the cast steering and swingarm bases. Those are a 63?? series as I understood. 7000 series aluminum is not easily welded, and the frames have a lot of weld on them. Usually I use 5356 filler. I see 4043 crack...fast on bike frames. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
