Does anyone know if you can use the shop outfitters tube dies with the harbor freight compact bender?

Reply:For tubing, buy a JD2. http://www.jd2.com/The shop outfitters is a joke- it now costs more, new, than a real hossfeld bender, that will bend rings around it. But neither shop outfitters, or hossfeld, is anywhere near as good as a JD2 for tubing and pipe.And they are really pretty reasonably priced- a new JD2 is only $300 right now, while a new shop outfitters, without tube dies, is $998.
Reply:I have a compact bender from northern tool. I bend 1/2" hydraulic lines. I sent the die I wanted to a machine shop and a sample of the tube. They cut a smooth goove in the die to fit the tube. It works good for slight bends, A 45 bend will still flatten the pipe a little. For what I needed it works good. If you do have someone groove your die, do it off to one side so you can still use the flat side if needed. Northern tool's bender is around 100 $

Reply:What I find interesting is... I believe the software for the JD2 bender that tricktools.com is charging $69 for.. is free on the JD2 website.Unless it's different..how sneaky!
