May sound dumb but with multiply pases exactly how is the best way this is done. example do you re weld on top of the same weld or 1 pass on each side of the first weld joined together.Thanks

Reply:I think I just put up a pic of a multi pass fillet today.  Was on the drag thing tha t someone is building for their tractor.I think the key to a multi pass weld is the fusion.  Make sure that the heat gets into the weld, and the metal, depending on where the last pass is.  The idea is to get one solid piece of metal. The parent metal, and the weld, shouldn't be distinguishable.  They should be one solid piece.  Think Zen, and make it ONE"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Successive passes should be aimed at the toe of the previous pass and the toe of the new pass should just reach the center line of the previous pass.
