I finally got to play with the new welder,I took it to the shop and hooked it up to the argon bottle there.the pics are in the evening after about 3 pots of coffee.I was shaking pretty good by then.The part is a slat off of a 737 n/g Attached Images
Reply:What kinda welder is that exactly?  Sounds like it should have dual rear wheels and a payload of about 3500 lbs.Lots of toys.

Reply:Congrats on the new toy/tool.The Lincoln Weld-Pak 3200HD is a 120V wire-feed welder, rated at 90A/19V output at 20% duty cycle.  It is a tapped voltage machine with four voltage settings (note: do NOT-NOT-NOT change the voltage while the machine is in use, just like most tapped voltage machines).  The output range is 25-135A (50-300 ipm wirespeed).  It can do GMAW or FCAW, max rated work thickness is 1/4 inch to 5/16 inch mild steel using 0.035 FCAW wire (Lincoln Innershield NR-211-MP), and the max rated GMAW mild steel work thickness is 14 ga to 3/16 inch single pass (slight spec differences in the literature).btw, the HD in the name is not for 'heavy duty' AFAIK.  It is for Home Depot.blastingcoffee, your welds look a -little- cold.  The toes don't seem to have fused into the work all that well.

Reply:i agree,,,they do look cold,but it was late I was full of caffiene and ready to go home.lolIt's not the tig I was wanting to get,,,but it will work for awhile until I can afford  one.
Reply:I haven't seen the 3200HD anyplace except at Home Depot.Lowe's seems to carry the Lincoln Pro-Mig machines PM140-T and PM180-T (T for tapped voltage as opposed to -C for continous voltage control).  The PM machines can take the new Lincoln SG100 spool gun, btw.
Reply:I have the same welder. Admittedly I bought it not knowing how to weld at all. It was within my budget at the time and hadn't even thought about welding as a career at the time. Now, after taking a welding course and seeking work in the field, I can see that I did under buy at the time... but we all know how hind sight goes. I just curious about the accesories that are listed in the back of the owners manual. I'm not sure which route is best to go in my situation. I've been out of work for some time, once I do get back to work I've got alot of bills to play catch up with. So getting a bigger unit is way out of the question for the foreseable future. Tips and nozzels are rather cheap, although you do have to buy the odd sizes in bulk of 20 pieces each ($25 per bag of 20 I think airgas said) but what about buying an extra hose or two, keep the orginal one for fcaw and gmaw, then get a second one for aluminium and possibly a third for stainless? It's kinda odd ya know, it's easier to come up with a spare few dollars here and there to buy a hose or another accessory, but saving for another bigger unit can take some time...Jax
Reply:You can just change wire, or for aluminum change the liner.  Ya can't push aluminum anyhow.  All you will get trying to do that is free frustration.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:I was going to snatch that one up, b/c it was in my allotted 'budget'.  But after thinking long and hard about it I dropped the money on the 175.  I think it was well spent couple extra bucks, just so I didnt have to upgrade.Lincoln Pro-Mig 175Harbor Freight cart and accessoriesAnd learning...
