Our tractor had some hooks melted onto the bucket a long time back, I was working with the MIG today and decided it was time to make at least one of them look respectable! The one on the lest looked mostly like the one on the right, I used the plasma to gouge most of it away and ground the rest down. Reply:Yeah, thta one on the right, makes you kinda wonder how you could do that.

Reply:I have a plasma, but still use the gouge to cut off old welds. I too have more control with the carbon arc rod.My machine takes a different tip for gouging. I have used it. DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:That is waaay cleaner! We use a plasma cutter a lot, but I would much rather use the OA torch unless it's sheet metal work. If we had a machine capable of carbon arc gouging, that would be the way to go.I got to liking the OA torch so much when somebody showed me how to scarf. The more practice I get with it, the better I like it. I need to get a good scarfing tip and try that out. Nice work! City of L.A. Reply:How do people do such nasty welds? I am by far not a pro, but come on........... LOL. Loooks like a big glob of some kids PlayDoh.
Reply:The interesting part is how smooth it is. I don't know when it was added but I do know it was welded with an AC Buzz box and 6011. I have no idea how it was so fluid.Me!
