I was at my gas dealer this week and was gonna get some c10 and play with spray transfer. The guy at the counter tells me that a refill is 96 bucks! (usually costs me 45 for c25). Of course, I pick my jaw up off the counter and then he says.. Dont say anything, but its the all the same, just the sticker is different.. After I pull myself back together, I then ask, so whats the actual mix? He just grins and says he's not sure... So, anybody ever run into this? Now Im thinking of hitting a different dealer (again), so I can at least get what I pay for. I really have no idea now, what my co2/argon mix is. It works I suppose.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
Reply:There is a HUGE difference between c25 and c10, the counter guy is just not knowledgable on welding or welding supplies. Take a look at the following PDF and you'll see the obvious difference. http://www.praxair.com/praxair.nsf/d63afe71c771b0d785256519006c5ea1/4b559a794fd38e0d85256a08005cd290/$FILE/P-8355.pdfThat is why C10 is more expensive.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Holy S--t! 96 bucks for a C10!! Either the guy was really trying to stick it to you, or didn't know any better. There shouldn't be more than a couple buck swing in either gas, our walk in dock price for a T size (330 cubic foot) cylinder is $61.00 That's the same for C-5, C-8, C-10, C-15, C-20, C-25, Straight Argon, 95% Arg 5% Oxy, Tri-Mix, which is 90% Arg, 8% Co2, 2% Oxy. I realize different parts of the country have different prices, and the cost of doing business can be much higher in larger cities, than here in the midwest, but 96 bones just seems way too high. If you have other distributors in the area I'd definitely shop around.

Reply:thats cheap compared to here in OZ we have to rent our bottles for the size I have at home G size 8.9m3 which i have 2 off cost's $138.00 per year each just to have sitting there and $120.00to refill one is argon and the other is migsheild luckily I have worked a deal with work and get tmy gas from work and they take $20 a week out of my pay to cover it that wayi still get my gas and don't miss the cash so much as its gone before i get paid but then again not every boss is going to do that for you Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
Reply:OK heres how it plays out were I'm atmix gas any argon/co2 combo is the same price and the price depends on the bottle sizes ,price drops if you just get argon or C02 any try mix will cost moreand adding c02 or removing it from the mix changes how it wildsChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder

Reply:Side note: If the gas isn't a stock item for the shop, the price will be out of line with everything else. See if ou can see the stock list and get what is closest from that.

Reply:Man, thats quite abit!!! I pay no more than $62.00. Here in the Southwest
Reply:Right englpck. I am sorta still shocked, and the legalities did cross my mind. I have Delile, airgas, praxair and linde in my area. One of em, I refuse to ever go back, even if I have to give up welding, the others seem fair, if somewhat non chalant about the 1 customer, 1 bottle concept. I got to looking, and those guys have other gasses like stargold and what not that microzone posted for me. I may see how much there little tri mix mig gas runs compared to c10. It may be cheaper as its they're premium mix gas? Side note: The 2 guys Ive dealt with at praxair have been the nicest of the bunch so far. That guy didnt set the price on c10 I know that, so, maybe the grapevine fed him the line about it being the same and all that. Im not gonna sweat it too much. As they say, tommorow is another day. I now know that c10 shouldnt cost but maybe a few dollars more than c25, and thats what I was looking for.Last edited by Doolittle; 03-18-2007 at 10:16 PM.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
