My hitch rotted out so I called the local vendor for a new one, 10,000 lbs, out of stock and $495. so I built this one from 3/8 steel. Better than I could buy but It took the better part of the day. I buy all my trailer hitches, brake controllers, light kits, etc from them. Have just about anything you need for a trailer, plus parts for repair. ainted and installed yesterday afternoon, Grade 8 , 1/2"-20 fine thread , lock washer and nuts grade 8 also torqued to 120 Ft LB. Store hitch in question was "The Beast" from Draw Tite 2 1/2 tube with 1/4 frame plates. 2WKs special order, Mine is 3" tube with 3/8 frame plate. Reply:3 inch tube on the main cross member, regular store bought 12" lower reciever to fit the ball hitches and pintles, I by them 3 at a time from a local truck body installer/builder. I use those recievers for alot of things. Reply:I didn't do any fancy prep and paint, just restoleum primer and paint for now. The truck frame has gotten so scaley I promised myself I would tear it completely apart this summer and do it right. Have to remove all the lines , fuel tanks, even axle and spring hangers, If I don't I will loose it.
