Truck articulation joint i built, material is a710 2'', 1/2'' , 3/8'' and 1'' welded with Trimark metaloy 70x .045 couple a pictures of one of the joints being welded and the third after machining and installed, roughly 40 hours of welding goes into this as it has a ton of plates that are on the inside of it and u cant warp the bottom plate more then 1/8th'' or it has to come back off. They are alot of fun to build and weld, all welds are inspected, there cant be any start or stops on any edges of the cap passes usually 3 to 6 passes depending upon where your welding on the piece. The lug in the top photo has to be within 1/16th of a inch as the yolk has to fit into it, they wont face machine it. Attached ImagesI forgot how to change this.

Reply:Thanks , i built all three of the joints , the slingshot (all the way to the right) is a bear to get correct as depending upon how much weld and how often and where u weld its gonna move, u basically have 1/16th to deal with, after this one they decided it would be more cost effective (after we told them multiple times) to install larger lugs and bore them down to correct size quite a bit of fun to build though. i love metal cored wire.I forgot how to change this.

Reply:cnc burn table all beveling is done with a track torch The only pieces that are bent are the two brackets that are welded on the slingshotI forgot how to change this.

Reply:Here are some more photos The Hitch ball is kinda funny theres a 3/8 groove weld holding the ball in place , its machined .010 oversized , the tube is heated and then the ball is slid into place. The materials are a514 welded with 90/10 and mettaloy 100x ( or 10018 depending upon where its welded) roughly 3 days of welding to get it to this point.Everything is preheated to at least 250 F with a good soak, (takes longer to preheat then to weld) The ball diameter is 21'' Attached ImagesI forgot how to change this.

Reply:Red primer lol , the booth is 8x12 kinda hard to paint stuff in that thing although the last i knew they were cut off and reshaped again cause someone ran a track torch over the ends of them (again)I forgot how to change this.

Reply:Took me and my buddy i worked with roughly 80 hours to weld this beast on the trailer, using trimark tm-991k2 .045 wire, (i hated the stuff and still hate it , makes my throat hurt and makes me sick everytime i run it, finally got them to update process to a metal cored wire...We've been doin it this way since 1973 bla bla blablablablablah.) Using 75/25 argon co2 mix Preheat the hell out of everything , takes a ton of work to get the plates to fit correctly prolly takes longer to do that then it does to weld out, aint much standard Position welding here mostly vertical and overhead.
