So I needed to fix the basketball hoop in the back of my rental house. Decided to come up with a bracket. Designed in in CATIA (overkill, I know), then made it in one night. Reply:The rope holds the backboard up (with the assistance of the original springs), and goes through some pulleys, passing through a rope clutch just out of frame.The chain, pulls on the rope clutch's handle, releasing the rope, so you can lower its height.
