Visited the neighbor yesterday and the trailer below was in their shop...It's tagged as a 3500# single axle about 8x16' box. The owner has a 900lb heated water pressure washer over the axle  (pretty impressive one) and a 350 gallon water tank against the front of the box over the tongue... My guess is the truck steered pretty easily.The trailer owner was thinking they could just bend things back & gusset or weld new tube up at the front... Bobby said "I don't think so"... AND you may think about moving the water tank AND getting a tandem with the right load rating AND the right license plates...Anyway... New tubing was 2"x4"x1/4" where original was 2"x3"x pretty thin... Pics below...Matt Attached Images
Replyet's see, 2800 lbs of water +the tank, 900 lb pressure washer and the weight of the tlr and whatever else was thrown on to do the jobs. Maybe a little overloaded!! Reply:Over load yes, improper loading even more so. That tank needs to be over the axles if thats the way you're going to run. personally, I would have the tank built into the tow vehicle, not the trailer. Reply:Once we had a guy stop in our shop and wanted me to come out front and look at his trailer to see if I could beef it up so that he could haul his stuff from here in Oregon back home to Arkansas.  well he had an old boat trailer with pallets wired on for a deck and it was piled high with household stuff like washer and drier and refrigerator. and the tung was bent so far that when he pulled into a gas station it drug on the bottom. But that was the good part. The trailer hitch was bolted to the spare tire pan on this 60 ford wagon and it was literally held there by a piece of 3/4 plywood in the spare tire compartment.  I had to go get the boss because I couldn't tell the poor guy what to do.  My boss just read him the riot act and I know he drove right on down the road to somewhere.   Mac

Reply:Really think that the dmv should require people to take a drivers course in towing a trailer and proper use and pass it to get a license to actually use one.  God knows that uhaul doesnt train its employee's right on this stuff either otherwise I would have been moved into a class B truck to pull a fully loaded to the windshield 96 caravan on a tandem axle car trailer in the largest non cdl box truck fully loaded from Athens GA to Virginia Beach.  Burned up the transmission tryin to go up some of the big hills and had the engine getting to the high temp range as well, but they assured me it was well within the weight range so thank god I got the insurance.Welding Supervisor Department of Corrections.
