I havent welded in more than 15 years and want to get back into it. I just want to tinker and do a few prodjects around the house. Is the HF 90 flex core good enough to weld horse shoes together? Or tac them together. I also want to build tables with angle iron. I dont want to spend too much on a machine because I am not sure I am going to be able to weld all the time do to being really busy with work.....Should I just bite the bullet and get a better welder?Thanks

Reply:There's lots of welders on Craigslist. You can get a lot more welder for the money if you buy hardly-used. For example $60 or less for that HF 90A in used-once condition, but everyone will tell you to buy a better welder instead.Go to http://www.searchtempest.com and set up a custom Craigslist search, maybe 100 mile radius and $500 limit.And tell us how this works out!

Reply:Of my eight welders, six were purchased used. Also bought and sold two other used welders. So far, all has worked out well. My Lincoln Sp-175+ MIG was purchased new.Latest purchase was a Harbor Freight 80 Amp inverter stick welder for a net cost of $40. It will stick horseshoes together if the horse holds still.
