Hi everyone, I have this old cutting torch I was hoping to get a little more information on. My stepdad said it was in the garage when he bought the house 30 some years ago, and The only information I can find online is(from what I can figure) that they make a similar model of this torch which is a 62-5E, and Harris Calorific was bought by Lincoln. Its useable, and has been used until about 2 years ago when he got a new one for xmas. What I'd like to know is, exactly how old this torch is. Was this something a business would've ordered from a tool supplier, or is this something that would've been hanging on the wall at Sears for any personal welder to come in and pick up? And like I said, he has a new one, so we're probably going to sell it.(Don't worry im not soliciting the forum!) Just wondering if I should clean it up and polish the brass and try to sell it to somebody who needs a cheap torch or prefers to use an older model for some reason, or is it old enough that I should leave it as is for somebody whod want it because they collect old tools? I've found others selling and have an idea of what they're going for, I'd just like to learn more about it because I have nothing but time and am interested in everything. lol if it didn't work I would probably be trying to take it apart, and see how it works.I've attached some pictures of it.
Reply:I'm curious too, I use one that's similar, model 63 I believe, but looks almost identical - mine has been extended. Feels weird at first with the oxygen supply lever being "backwards" but I like it ALOT - that bigger barrel feels more comfortable in my hands.Bruce
