I am working to restore a powermax1100 back to service. The torch has a lot of wear but all the parts seem to be there and the consumables look new. The cover for the torch leads has several significant gashes but I don't see any cuts or repairs made to the internal wires or tubing. I have ohmed out the wires in the lead and I have end to end continuity. The torch body is missing the trigger safety assembly but there is a little rubber bad that seems to have a tactile click in the cavity where the trigger would be. I will replace the safety switch once I verify that the torch will function. No sense in buying a switch if I have to buy a new torch!!Also I see that there are two small o-rings in the connection between the torch and the body of the machine...both rings are broken. I see the following o-ring part in the manual but it isn't the right size: 026020 ................ O-Ring, .864 X .070. The one I need would be about 3/8" ID. Does anyone know what the correct oring size is?I appreciate any advice in advance of me trying to power up my unit. Buck
Reply:If you call Hypertherm tech service (free) they will help you identify all the torch parts and orings, etc. The original Powermax1100 torch is a unique "blow forward" design....and it was fairly short lived in production. Most of them have been replaced with a blow forward upgrade torch that is more efficient, reliable and provides better cut quality and consumable life. The Blow forward consumables are still available, but the torch is no longer manufactured.Jim Colt Hypertherm Originally Posted by Buck GrahamI am working to restore a powermax1100 back to service. Reply:Yes call Hypertherm. The o-ring you found lives on the torch head. seals the retaining cap.
Reply:You can download the service manual for free at the www.hypertherm.com website. Click on downloads library, click the box to view older systems, choose Powermax1100, scroll and find service manual, then download as a .pdf. Below is a pic of the hand torch parts list copied from the manual. Jim Colt Hypertherm
Reply:The o-ring he is looking for is part of item 9. and not listed in the manual. only the main body o-ring is.In the pug are two pins and they have an o-ring around each make the air seal when the torch is installed.
