onan p220 flywheel magnets

Just wondering if any one else has had altenator magnet(s) come apart in their flywheel and, if so, did you/they determine the cause? Mine came apart on my Trailblazer for some reason I cannot determine and one of the chunks knocked a hole in the timing cover and chewing up the alt stator. Luckily I had an old P218 out in the old tractor shed with a good flywheel, stator and cover but I did twist off the stator bolts/screws after I discovered I didn't even need to take the dern thang off to remove said timing cover. I mention this because if anyone has a method for removing steel bolts from aluminum where heat can't be applied without snapping them I would be grateful for the info.
Reply:The glue lets go. I have seen in the snap-on catalog and induction heater made for screw removal. Heat up the bolt with out a flame. heat them up then let them cool. should then come out. Unless some one put red lok-tite on the bolts. Then you will have to warm the back up to 200 degrees the soften the lok-tite,
Reply:My onan has roll pins in between each magnet holding pressure against each other!AEAD 200LE, Lincoln precision tig 185, Millermatic 251, Spectrum 625 extreme, Victor torch , Smithy 1220LTD. and  Do all C-4 band saw ,  Always adding.
Reply:Generally speaking the glue gets funky and lets go, this can be exasabrated by using a hammer to remove a flywheel with out using the proper puller too. Seen too many junked tecumseh flywheels from just this issue.  Just my 02 FWIWBobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?

Reply:Yes I know this is an old thread. Magnet release happens more than one would think. Their r ways to remedy or repair the flywheel with replacement magnets and reuse the same flywheel and to get the battery charging again.
