I have a Miller 220 Plasma cutter and I have an air compressor that is motorized. I have this setup on a trailer with a Ranger 225 presently and it works great. I have acquired a 1944 Shorthood and have had the motor overhauled. It runs great and just needs a little tweaking on RPM's and voltage at the 110 outlet. It's running really hot presently but I'll be tweaking it shortly. I don't think it's possible to run the plasma cutter, but some have indicated the possibility of using an inverter...thought I'd get the members of this forum to sound off on the subject. Lots of smarts on this board..NJ
Reply:Your 1944 Shorthood only makes DC power and your Miller Plasma needs AC current to run it.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1968-'70 Lincoln SA 200 code 6633Millermatic 200  serial#JE834063

Replyon't think there is any COST EFFECTIVE way to plasma from that short hood. Great welder they just were not designed to be AC generators. That said if you have the room a and weight capacity a lot of guys carry small inverter generators. But you would probably need in the range of 8,000 watts.  That said a Metabo and a cutting wheel can go through a whole lot of things."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251   Syncrowave 300   30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200   1 short hood    SA250    SAM 400
