Newbie here. I've been welding with with Flux core wire since I got my new welder a few months ago. It's a Lincoln 180 mig. I picked up a tank of 75/25 today. I'm going to start messing around with it this weekend. The recommended flow rate in the manual is 30-40cfh. Seems high to me, but I'm new so I could be wrong. What do you guys think? Reply:I run between 15, and 20 CFH for Mig. Now with some dual shield wires you may have to increase that to 40 or 50 CFH.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:40-45 CFH is required for dual shield welding. With MIG, you can get by with less.2000 Lincoln SA-2501974 Miller Dial-Arc 250
Reply:So let me be clear here. When I said I was using flux core, that was because I didn't have gas. Now I am switching over to smaller .025 solid wire and using the 75/25 for shielding. I have some junkyard body panels to start practicing on sheet metal. So even though the manual says 30-40cfh, should I start out at 15-20? Sorry if I was confusing anyone with taking about flux. I will not be welding dual shield wire. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
Reply:You didn’t confuse me. I knew you were talking about self shielded flux core. I threw out the difference in gas flow, just in case you ever run dual shield, (flux core with gas)Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:I think you have to switch your polarity...check on that

Reply:Switching polarity is correct. Self shielded wire is straight polarity, while both MIG and dual shield are reverse.2000 Lincoln SA-2501974 Miller Dial-Arc 250
