Hey All,Newbie Skip here, just bought a new Miller Maxstar 200-SD so I could practice at home for upcoming plate/structural certification test.I have never used one of these before, and when I got it today, I put a 230V plug on it and plugged it in, it makes this noise that is very hard to describe, sort of an electronic squeal/buzzing type of sound... it even continued to make it for a few seconds after I shut it off and unplugged it. Reply:Skip this is normal.....my 150 s does it as well.....just a faint squelch right
Reply:yeap, thats the inverter switching. Dynasty DX200 does it.
Reply:Squelch, *thank you*, that was the word I was trying to think of! That is just what it sounds like, faint but persistent. The only other inverter machine that I have used are the ones at the welding class I am taking.. Lincoln Invertecs, 275's I think; they just seem to make a fan noise when you turn them on, kind of hard to tell there, with all of the background noise. Actually, I really wanted one of those Lincolns, but out of my price range right now, got a good deal on this Miller.Thanks for the input, it is great to have a resource like this. My brother in law is a pipeline welder, and I think he gave me the itch to learn how to weld, so far, I'm loving it!Skip
