Ok so after building and selling a few horseshoe pumpkins, I came acrossed a client that wants me to build a game out of horseshoes. So basically she wants like a bean bag toss, only where you throw a horseshoe bent in a perfect circle into Holes made out of Horseshoes welded into patterns. So I need to bend roughly a 2" circle out of a horseshoe any Ideas? I thought about heating it and bending it around a piece of pipe, will this work? Reply:Yes ,get pipe ,weld tab to it to attach horseshoe to ,heat horseshoe bend around pipe.
Reply:Are you trying to make the horseshoe circles 2" ID or 2" OD?If it's for 2" ID, then bending around pipe would work. If 2" OD, you would have to bend the shoe around a 1/2" rod. The shoes are usually 5/8" to 3/4" wide, double that for the diameter and you end up with about a 1/2" hole.

Reply:I've got a bucket full of jigs and dies for bending rod and bar stock when blacksmithing. Makes for more consistent results and is faster when you have to make a lot.

Reply:For dies the harbor freight bender has a nice assortment to choose from. It's expensive now $89.99 , but I bought it years ago for $40.00. The bender is handy too. http://www.harborfreight.com/compact-bender-38470.htmlAttachment 1529141
Reply:Get a bunch of 2" washers, put horse stickers all over them and call it a day. Er body loves stickers. "You can't out puke a buzzard"
Reply:Sounds like he's trying to bend this horseshoe on the "hard" Not gonna happen with that harbor freight bender. Never get it tight enough. At least I couldn't do it with mine. Lot's of heat was the only way.
