Inherited welding and cutting tanks, what are they

My grandpa is a retired welder and has decided to start clearing out his garage. Ive got his welders and cutting rigs but wondering about these tanks. Am I going to run into issues having these filled or swapping them out? I dont know what all the codes mean but it looks like two of the tanks just went out of cert last year? Two are also listing "property of"?The pictures didnt show any of the lettering on the acetylene tank. Attached Images

Reply:Neck rings mean less and less everyday with consolidation and comingling.Drop them on the dock of your favorite welding supply and if they get their feathers ruffled take them down the road.
Reply:Can't exactly tell the size but the oxygen (green) and CO2/Argon mix gas (brown) look like 90 or 125 cu ft tanks. Mostly customer owned everywhere I have been. Just take them to go get filled like VWGUY3 said. Reply:Why not Ask Granpa where he used to get them filled/exchanged at?
Reply:The label on the shoulder of the cylinder will tell you which supplier filled them last. If they're out of test, the distributor will probably exchange them and charge you a test fee.

Reply alowdime - no fret. Shuttle those cylinders to your LWS. They'll inspect the ring and inspection data. The yr built is insignificant. You should be able to score a new VIP for ~ $20 per cylinder.We recently had a 4500psi T-bottle, aged from the late 70s, re-VIP'd for $22. And, the cylinder did not originate from our LWS. Believe the jug was 3-4 yrs out of cert.Related, we had a K-bottle from Canada acquired during an equipment acquisition. Our LWS would not fill the cylinder b/c the valve was non-CGA and the neck ring was stamp with a Canadian DOT. That cylinder is now in the hands of psacustomcreations who will transform her into a custom work of diver art. Replyidn't Airgas buy out Airco? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe so.
Reply:I've seen a oxygen bottle with a stamp from 1906.....  Real oldI've given old bottles to my LWS and they just swap it out with a new one,  it's easy,  if it's past the hydro testing date they just charge a couple bucks for the testingLast edited by MetalMan23; 11-27-2016 at 10:07 AM. http://www.philswelding.com
