First Project - Welding Cart

Hi everyone,I purchased my first welder, Miller 211, back in November and decided that my first project would be .. what else.. but a welding cart.  It was a great learning experience.  I had no idea how much metal moves when you're welding !  I know it was probably overkill, but I used it as a way to deal with alot of different metals types.  This sucker will stay in my shop for sure...Last edited by StompIt; 02-16-2016 at 02:46 PM.

Reply:Awesome cart !! ,one question does the bottle slide out from the bottom to change out
Reply:Nice,Original design features. I'd be careful about chap saw debris around that welder, though, e.g., I'd never run the saw on top with the welder going, although it is probably fan-on-demand, so it might not suck  metal or abrasive particles even if there was an oversight in that way.Yeah, a door and a "U" or "V" to place and cinch-strap the bottle into is probably worth considering. Oh, never mind, I do see that the rod removes to let you scooch a bottle in there, although bottle diameter isn't always uniform. I always like to see and use expanded metal in projects, diamond plate too. Cool, dude!Last edited by C. Livingstone; 02-16-2016 at 02:20 PM.

Replyike the cart.  Turned out really nice for a first project and the storage is pleasantly organized.  Not trying to be the safety police, but looks like there are a few gas cans in your work space.  Don't forget to relocate them when welding/creating sparks (you may have for all I know).  Thanks for sharing.Lincoln Square Wave TIG 200Lincoln SP-175 PlusDynabrade 52636Grizzly Lathe + friendsAll in a barn too far awayCertifiably uncertified
Reply:Nice Cart! Just curious what brand and color spray paint did you use? I'm working on one right now to house an XMT, a 211 like yours and a plasma. I ended up with rustoleum high performance series "safety blue" it's close but obviously off a bit.Miller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i

Reply:That is a great start! I haven't started mine yet but I have a similar plan to hold Welder, consumables, grinder rack, tools, gloves, etc.. anything needed for a welding job...haha
Reply:That is a very nice job for your first project.  (I am a newbie too.  I've built a table and working on a cart now.)  Looks great!!!!
Reply:That's a nice cart, definitely heavy duty enough. Should last you a lifetime
