Anyone tried one of these?  I don't care much about the auto latch but the rest of it looks good. Why do they all paint a weld on coupler though? All of the bare finish I see are light duty. I'm probably going to exceed the duty cycle on my SP125 Lincoln just burning through the paint. http://www.crofttrailer.com/12563-de...2/#page=page-1"You can't out puke a buzzard"
Reply:I've never used that particular one but I've welded many of them on! I actually have a surge brake coupler that's supposed to show up tomorrow for a customer's boat trailer. I also have often wondered why in the world they are always painted or galvanized! And typically have tons of damn stickers on them! Depending on the size of trailer you're putting that on your 125 welder may be a little on the small size to do this job. With proper prep it should work fine though.-DoogieMiller 350PMiller Trailblazer 325 EFI w/ Excel PowerLincoln LN25 suitcase welderXMT 304/22a feederMiller Syncrowave 350LXMiller EconotigHobart Handler 140(2) Uni-Hydro 42-14Hypertherm 65 plasmaWEBB Gap bed lathe
Reply:You'd rather get a hitch that's all rusty before you even weld it on?
Reply:I put one on a friend’s galvanized boat trailer a few years ago. I drilled some 3/4-inch holes in it, to plug weld. Welded the end, and along the bottom, to the square tubing on the trailer.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:It is impossible to weld overhead. You should have seen the look on my friend’s face when I took the tractor and turned his boat trailer over with the boat still on it! Reply:I live in a county with three Navy ship yards. It is funny to watch the riggers turn over an aircraft carrier so the welders can weld on the bottom. Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:He probably didn't have it tied down good . People forget the wind effects on the bow what with the air rolling over the top of the vehicle then hitting the bow. Add that to too high of speed for the size of tow vehicle and some weird things can happen."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:I normally go with a Bulldog trailer coupler. They are very stout and have a locking ring that slides forward to lock the receiver onto the ball. But the ones I get from my local supplier are also painted. Kind of a pain but it grinds off quickly and easily.
Reply:Oh He!!, you said trailer and SP125 Lincoln welder in the same post.
