Hi folks, I've just purchased a MM250 and a MM Vintage to join a HH187 I have in my shop.  We primarily (like 95% of our welding) use .030 fcaw because we work on thinnish tube and can't get gas.  (I know, it's not the right way, but I'm in Africa).I'm excited about the new machines but a little miffed that Miller doesn't seem to make drive rolls to run .030 fcaw in these machines?  They have the .030 drive rolls for solid wire listed, and then .035 for fcaw.  My HH187 has a .030 fcaw roll available. Is there really no reason anyone would ever run .030 fcaw through a 250A machine?  If the machine could be called on to use .023 solid wire (as they often are), certainly someone somewhere must want to use .030 fcaw as well? What am I missing here?  I suppose I could turn it myself on the lathe, but I must not be understanding something, because Miller must've thought of this already, right? Thanks!
Reply:It seems a lot of the knurled drive roll sets use the same rolls for .030-.035. Have you tried the .035  rolls yet?
Reply:I haven't - but I think in the smaller 180A series of machine they use two different grooves that happen to be on the same roll (flip the roll for the other) - so there's still a .030 groove and a different .035 one.  I don't remember though.Maybe that's the answer - but it's strange if that's the case that miller doesn't list the roll as being .030/.035 as they do with the roll for the 180A machines.
Reply:.030 wire is way to small for that welder, you should be using .045www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's

Reply:No, whats silly is using .030 wire on a 250amp welder. Its like driving tacks with a 8 pound hammerwww.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
