Curious what the overall preference is.After 2 years I just took the one that came on my SW200 off and while I am worried about damage to the hose now, It is much more comfortable to wrap around you/lighter overall to hold.I suppose it also matters what kind of environment you're working in. Reply:Air cooled or water cooled? I tend to keep mine on even at home just because at this point the added weight is normal to me. I tend to throw it over my shoulder and then wrap my wrist once to avoid the weight screwing up my pass. The reason i asked about water cooled is because i have burned holes a few times in my lines - turns into a couple hundred dollar mistake pretty quick.Welding --- My paid hobby!

Reply:I don't tig so I don't know, but can you leave the last 4 or 6 feet uncovered to keep it lighter, kind of like a whip or stinger lead, you can also throw it over your shoulder, that's what I finally figured out on my O/A torch. Reply:Not sure I see this enormous weight savings from removing the hose cover. What does two or three feet of tig hose cover weigh? An ounce? Two ounces? And how much would that one or two-ounce savings equate to in 1/0 or 2/0 stinger cable? An inch?
Reply:maybe it makes it stiffer so removing feels lighter as well as being a touch lighter???
Reply:In an Air cooled torch, I don't like them either. My solution was to put a set of Lg hooks in the ceiling and hang my 25ft hose across and above the table. I take down what I need and the hose is protected from being damaged up there.

Reply:ive got one with a cover and one without. If its an air cooled torch i prefer it to be without a cover.If its a water cooled torch i use a cover because of 3 different lines.
