I have a miller syncrowave and it requires 125 amps max input with power factor correction. I figure I will put it on a 100 amp breaker because I will never run it full out. I had it on a 60 amp but it blows the breaker and the receptacle over heats. I was wondering if I can get some sort of a 100 amp receptacle? or should it be hard wired right into the breaker? What gauge wire should I use?
Reply:100amp receptacle are $$$$$$$$$Just run it to a Disconnect box and hardwire into the Disconnect box.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Use at least 6 gauge wire, 4 gauge would be better. And hard wire it.A 100 amp breaker does not flip at 101 or 102 amps. You may find that you can get full out put or really close to full out put with out flipping that 100a breaker. What kind of plug do you have on it that is over heating?A sealed 6-50p or one that you assemble on the cord end your self?old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder
Reply:read the manual. virtually all of the Miller owner's manuals tell you the minimum cabling and breaker requirements.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:I did read the manual and it recommends 4 gauge wire I just wanted to see what other people do regarding the plug. I guess I will hard wire it in.
