Hi all,I have had a couple posts about a few machines I was looking at, but they have fallen through or been sold off.I am looking for an engine driven welder to make a bit of a project, something that is not going to break the bank to make a project, but something my 12 year old and I can fix up and use. Something probably from the 1980's through now, that will just be fun and parts are found semi-easily. I am just looking, but will always take a point in the proper direction of who may have something they have or know of.I am in Michigan currently. Thanks ahead of time.Brian
Reply:Can i ask, why an engine drive? Unless you also need a generator for the house, it's a lot of welder that requires a lot of storage space. A smaller welder would be easier to use and store.

ong story short, fell on some hard times a bit back, lost the house, moved to a rental that doesn't have a garage, can only run an extension cord from inside to power a mig or arc box. The engine driven is a good way for the kid to expand his engine work and give him something to look forward to using when we finish. Just one of those "we were suppose to be building a project car but can't get there quite yet" deals. The old engine drive was what I learned on, so it is just nostalgia too. Plus, like you said, then we have a welder and generator, but a little 120v box would let us weld too.
Reply:I think that is a great activity for a boy and his dad. Charge on! I am sure if you need any rear help there are more than a few who will help you. Lincoln SA-250Lincoln SW 200Miller ThunderboltSA-250 TMDSquarewave 200Thunderbolt AC/DC1951 G.E. welder
