The min/max switch on my welder burned up. I'm still within the 1 year warrenty but i dont want to ship the entire welder to frickin china to get a switch replaced. so is there a replacement switch that would fit in there right? or is my only hope ebay?
Reply:Can't order the switch from HF? You can buy a 90A machine on ebay for $50-60 shipped ( example-- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...AMOTORS%3A1123 ) and just use it for parts if it doesn't work. I'd try an electronics house for a similar switch ...a toggle switch...or wire it up for constant high only operation until you get a switch from HF.If it's still covered by warranty just take it back for a new one...they are very easy to get along with.I'm curious.... did it just go "
OOF" on it's own or did you switch it in mid-stream while welding and then it went "
OOF"?Last edited by mudbugone; 06-01-2010 at 08:06 PM.
Reply:Was this a HF warranty???? Take it back and get a new one.Come try it out and stay a while.

hone HF in Camarillo. They can likely provide the part or else suggest a name-brand equivalent part you can get through your local welding supply.Or ask one of those ebay parting-out sellers to sell you just the switch.Or just wire a jumper across the switch for permanent High or Low setting.

Reply:i was running a bead, and then i heard the power go WAY down. so i stopped and looked at my welder and it was roaring smoke. so i took the side off and discovered the switch burned up. its under a 1 year extended warrenty i bought with the welder. thank yall for the help. i guess i could have called harbor freight first...i panicked lol.EDIT: Problem..i cant seem to find my warrenty papers...Last edited by Jesse94; 06-02-2010 at 01:14 PM.
Reply:Since you bought the extended warranty..Use it... Take that unit back and get a new one..they are very easy to deal with on such matters.Wonder exactly what caused that situation though?
Reply:i might have over heated it...i ran 2 1/2, 4" long welds...would not having the warrenty papers be a problem?
Reply:Good question... I thought they kept a record of the sale, but they might require the receipt at least. Did you pay cash or CC ? Call them and explain the problem...probably depends on the specific store managers descretion. Always keep the documents with the manual... I tape or staple them together...saves trouble. Good Luck.
Reply:i had it in the box with everything else but its not there anymore...
Reply:Typically on item like that with an extended warranty, they ask for your phone #. They can usually look it up that way.TodHH140HF 4x6 band saw (cut straight right outta the box!)"-Of all the things I've lost... I miss my mind the most."

lease let us know what you did and how it went. They should hand you a new one. They can check that you have the Extended just like they do at the supermarket.
Reply:i think i bought a 2 year warranty on mine, the sales clerk totally talked me into to, i grumbled at the time, but glad i did now.
Reply:just take it back to the store. i returned a burnt welder like yours 2 years later ( good use for kinda crummy welding) and they swapped it out no questions asked.
