Anyone have a particular 1" drive impact wrench that they like? I have decided I need one and for the amount that they cost I want to be sure I get a good one. It seems these days that expensive does not always equal good. All I know so far is that I am going to get one with an extended anvil. I would imagine that CP and IR make good ones but am looking for recommendations from personal experience. Reply:I prefer the ingersoll Rand.  I also have a 1/2" drive Ingersoll that is AWESOME...  My 3/4 is a Snap On, and it was excellent for many years, but has something wrong with it now.  It won't quit all the way when you let go of the trigger.  I'm on our second Ingersoll Rand 1", nothing went wrong with the original, except it got backed over with a dozer...

Reply:What will its main purpose be? The reason I ask is because if you're doing truck tires, you will definitely want the 6" extended anvil. I have the Chicago Pneumatic CP797-6, which I believe is pretty much the industry standard. If you're doing other work, you might want a pistol grip. The CP797-6 is a great gun. I bought mine used, said to be just rebuilt, it was very tight and still serves me well, every time without fail, for over 12 years. Reply:must have bought it used.   Cuz i priced a new 1" drive IR electric and DAMNNNNNNNN   I dont like them near as much as they do.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:The gun will be used for truck tires, I live on my families farm and we have a small fleet of trucks. So far we have gotten by with a composite IR 3/4" gun but there are times when some serious heat is needed along with that gun to break wheel nuts loose. Here in the salt country things don't come apart easily.As far as air, we have a Atlas Copco tow behind that will run it in the field. Reply:Imc that is the same use as ours.
