The blade on my band saw keeps walking off the drive wheel. It's driving me nuts. There's no play in the wheel so it should be running true. The upper wheel keeps the blade on fine. The blade runs about 1/8in from the back edge of the wheel where it should be. Then when it's cutting it will work its way off. It's always been that way since I've had it. Is it possible the wheel is worn at an angle? Attached Images

Reply:The top wheel, as well as having the tension adjustment, sometimes has an angle adjustment. Tough to see. There will be a allen head screw looking at the face of it. Reply:Some bandsaw wheels have “tires” on them.  I can’t tell from the pix if yours has a groove for a tire or not.I would check the bearings for play.  Having a blade walk off under tension is usually a sign of a worn bearing in the wheel.Miller Trailblazer Pro 350DMiller Suitcase MIGMiller Spectrum 2050Miller Syncrowave 250DXLincoln 210MP
Reply:First off. What is it ? Is this a recent thing or was it bough that way ?Have you tried other blades ? Often blades are utter garbage.Much like a drill the blade is more important than whats spinning it

Reply:I have a 7"x12" import bandsaw and have experienced the same problems. For years I refused to use it because the blade would walk off during a cut. I tried every adjustment I could fine and even did some shimming and it would still do it. I was buying saw blades from a local industrial tool dealer and paying around $9.00 for a blade. I don't remember what the blade was made off. I ordered a $30.00 blade from Enco and put it on and it was like a different saw! It cut better and the blade didn't come off. It made such a difference that I sold my chop saw and made the bandsaw my main saw. I now buy my blades from Fastnal and pay $30-35 a piece. I get quite a bit of use from a blade. When the blade starts getting dull it will start walking off like it did with the low quality blades. Then I know its time for a new blade. To some it all up, try a good quality blade before replacing any parts and see if it makes a difference. Like I said, the saw was a piece of junk with a cheap blade on it but when I switched to a quality blade it was like a different saw.
Reply:try running a narrow piece if tape around the center of the wheels.  kind of like to make a high center, more curve to the center of the wheel.  that way when blade starts to run off, the higher center ill cause blade to recenter.  like when a tire hits a curb it always tries to ride up the curb .  like 1/8 in tape under 1/4 blade.
