Hi folks,Long time reader, but first-time poster here. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Century welders - in particular the 255 MIG. There seems to be almost no personal experiences with Century welders discussed online.Here's my story: We needed a larger MIG unit for one of our mobile work trailers. We're based in Ontario, but this happened at one of our sites in North Carolina. The only thing available locally was a Century 255 at a nearby hardware store. Looked to be about the equivalent of a Hobart Ironman. Wasn't sure what to expect, and it hasn't seen a whole lot of use yet, but from what little we've used it thus far it appears to be a great, no-nonsense, simple, seemingly rugged unit - perfect for a mobile work trailer. We're decking out two other trailers and strongly considering a few more of these welders. Does anyone have any negative (or positive) experiences with them? Alternative is something like the Ironman which are great welders, but it would be nice to keep things consistent.DanLast edited by DanielW214; 02-12-2021 at 10:02 AM.

Reply:Would be good to see if it uses common consumables like tips and nozzles. Then you could pick them up at any welding supply when needed. Also compare warranty.
Reply:Thanks folks for the replies. The Ironmans are probably the way I should go - they has a pretty good reputation and slightly better spec's. Unfortunately finding them in Canada seems pretty near impossible (even when they aren't backordered for 8 weeks like they are now). There are lots of great suppliers in the US that ship to Canada, but shipping costs for such a heavy item, and especially duty charges tack at least another $600 - $800 onto the price. Not an impossible amount, but enough to make me consider other options.The Century is also costlier than it should be given the exchange rate (exchange rate is 1.27 and it seems to be marked up about 1.50 at most suppliers), but still a fair bit cheaper than the Hobart, and in-stock at a few places up here. It comes with the Lincoln 250 gun.Sounds like I'm trying to talk myself into it, and really I'm pretty indifferent. Just wondering if anyone had any notable reasons why I shouldn't at least consider the century units as viable alternatives.
