Headed over in the morning to purchase the 125 DC welder does anyone have any recommendations for the best flux core to run in it?  With my Vulcan I used HF solid wire and it worked pretty darn nice, but this is flux core and its been years since I ran one of those, and its an invertor.   Suggestions,... please.Retired - Refrigeration Pipefitter - Master Electrician-  IowaLots of Hobbys
Reply:The small welders work best with 0.030 size.I like E71T-11 you can use E71T-GSDave Originally Posted by wmgeorgeHeaded over in the morning to purchase the 125 DC welder does anyone have any recommendations for the best flux core to run in it?  With my Vulcan I used HF solid wire and it worked pretty darn nice, but this is flux core and its been years since I ran one of those, and its an invertor.   Suggestions,... please.

Reply:Well guys  I ended up with the Century FC90 as I felt I should support a USA  based company. I purchased the suggested Lincoln wire which is 2x the price of any others?? Where is the Lincoln wire made?   INE the other stuff says Italy and gets rave reviews from the UK and European sources.   I must say the Lincoln welds nice and little if any spatter.  I think brand name matters when it comes to quality control. This is not my first welder over the past 65 years, but it will be my last as I turn 77 very soon.Retired - Refrigeration Pipefitter - Master Electrician-  IowaLots of Hobbys
Reply:Buy from a welding supply. Box store pricing is crazy on wire.

Reply:I never tried the trial spool of wire that came with my Titanium 125, but have had real good luck with Lincoln NR211-MP. Way less spatter than with the Hobart E71T-11. Both do work well...Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Reply:None of my welds ever looked that bad!  I do acknowledge INE spattered a bit more (but not as above) but I consider it a trade off for not breaking and kinking like the NR 211 wire when trying to load it or the smoke and pin holes when welding.  BTW I wonder which HF welder you have for your flux core? Most of the low end ones are AC out.  They must of taken the $99 and $149 units  off the market.Last edited by wmgeorge; 08-03-2020 at 01:57 PM.Retired - Refrigeration Pipefitter - Master Electrician-  IowaLots of Hobbys
Reply:I've had no issues with the NR211-MP out of mine. Decent welds with hardly any spatter nor porosity. Seems to load ok, never any breakage... that's all news to me...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...15998b96ff.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e5ea004ed8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...800aef66aa.jpgSent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Reply:I've tried to use the Lincoln wire off and on for years on my flux core welders, and its always had a problem with kinking when trying to bend  or just plain breaking. Here is one review that touches on it... https://weldguru.com/best-flux-core-wires/Retired - Refrigeration Pipefitter - Master Electrician-  IowaLots of Hobbys

Reply:I was going to do the same thing, convert a lower cost one to DC but I said what the heck. This invertor draws so little amperage and is so small it will go with me to the retirement village whatever so I can weld in the garage.  Don't get me wrong, the Lincoln wire is good but the breaking when going to tie it back to the spool for storage and the issues trying to get it through the rollers was too much hassle. The INE has less smoke and worked good in the Lincoln FC90 and I was getting pinholes no matter what with the NR211.   I will try to post a couple of pictures with bends in the NR211 and INE. The Lincoln NR211 breaks, the other does not. INE NR 211 MPRetired - Refrigeration Pipefitter - Master Electrician-  IowaLots of Hobbys
