Can anyone help me troubleshoot? I have a MIG Welder Dual 151 that I purchased used, but I can't get any spark out of it. Everything looks good inside. It feeds wire easily but I can't get an arc. Any suggestions?
Reply:The wirefeed motor runs off of the welding output voltage. So you need to check the connections from the rectifier to the torch/ground connection studs. You also may have a broken ground or torch wire.
Reply:Both of these connections are good. It still has no spark. Could it be in the pcb?
Reply:The main function of the pcb is to control wire feed. If it feeds wire OK, the pcb is likely OK
Reply:If the wire feed runs, the PCB is working. You say it has no welding power to the torch and ground, the wire feed motor is powered from the welding power.Use a volt meter to see where the welding voltage gets stopped or unplug it from the 220v, and use an ohm meter to see if one of the output cables is broken.
Reply:All connectivity shows good. The voltage at the rectifier measured around 90 volts. I can trace 240 volts up to the relay. Is the induction coil showing in the ground circuit the coil that's mounted on top of the main transformer? I'm trying to follow the schematic in the manual.Any help?
Reply:The induction coil is mounted on top of the main transformer. How are you getting 90v at the rectifier input ?
Reply:What should voltage be across rectifier?
Reply:With an AC Voltmeter you should measure the following voltages on the transformer secondary:MIN 1 - 24v acMIN 2 - 28v acMAX 1 - 34v acMAX 2 - 42v acValues may vary slightly depending upon your exact line voltage.....
Reply:Usually less than 40v.
