Seeking advice prior to powering up a LOW hour Dynasty 200 DX that has been stored for more than three years (clean, dry and warm environment.)This is a relatively early production model:  Ser# LJ2001**L,  Stk No# 907099-01-1.  It is configured to operate on 1PH.I am specifically interested in steps to protect the capacitors by "reforming" them before powering with full line volts/current.  Other advice is welcome, too.A review of the Operation Manual does not turn up any advice on the subject.
Reply:That is a 2009 Machine. Your best bet is just power it on. Capacitors go bad the first 10 hours of use most of the time when new. When you power the machine on it runs the caps through prechange resistors to slowly change the caps. If they will not charge then the machine will not turn on.--Be aware  the boost IGBT and the inductor that charges the caps run at a audible frequency. You can hear it. This will sound like clicking (this is normal).*Only qualified persons should test, maintain, and repair this unit.**If this is you then.*Make sure your VOM will go up to 1000vdc.Power it on and check RC5 on the interconnect PCBoard PC2.Pin 1-2 = 405vdc and Pin 2-3 405vdc and Pin 1-3 810vdc.That will test the Boost Board PC10 and the boost igbt and the caps make sure it is no more than 5+/- out of balance. Per below test plug.Last edited by Diode; 03-14-2018 at 04:48 PM.I Fix Stuffwww.millerserviceparts.comwww.lincolnwelderrepairparts.com
Reply:I don't know anything about repairing these or how to test but as with any machine I always start them up and let them idle for a while before using taking current conditions into concideration I have inverters going back to the early 90s pow cons and the GOOD millers not the work occasionally no parts after 3 year true blue jobs
