Does anyone know an average cost on blanchard grinding a welding table?

Reply:it cost me roughly $900 to grind my 5'x8' Acorn table. Having a truly flat table top with internal clamping is a beautiful thing. They ground the top once, the underside once and then the top again a second time. The base of this blanchard grinder is a magnet. when they flip the switch, the magnet is strong enough to pull and twist OUT of the cast iron platen. If they grind only once and when the magnet is turned off, the twist could return. Tumbling the Acorn table the three time between grinding lets them ensure there is no twist in the cast iron once the final pass is done. They did a great job for $900. I hated to sell this table. Actual Acorn brand table cast in PA. I bought it for $1750 in Mississippi. Paid $900 to get it ground and used it for 2 years. Sold it on eBay for $5500.00 I have a nice table now but it does not have the same "feel" as working on the cast iron. Welding splatter doesn't stick either. I'll have another one someday. I tried the home-made clamp thing and it didnt work to well. The Stronghand clamps with the heavy duty pads really work well. Last edited by Jimmy_pop; 10-02-2016 at 08:03 PM.
Reply:Where are you and how big is your table?  There aren't that many large Blanchards in the world and if you aren't near one freight could be more than the grinding charge.  Weldsale mills all their new tables now.
Reply:Also depends quite a bit if you need the table done as a whole if it's already welded, or if you can get just the top done.  I paid $250 to get a 4'x6'x5/8" top done.
