I'm replacing the drill head on my floor standing drill press. I need to sleeve the post where the head attaches. I have found a DOM tube that has the correct ID and enough OD to be machined to size. The tube is 3-1/8" OD x 0.120" wall (2.885" ID) x 6" long. I'm in the SW suburbs of Chicago and wondering if anyone knows a good source to get this.ThanksMike(side note: I have found a tube at McMaster but it's only 3" OD and I need 3.070" so would need to shim it to get the proper fit. Would this be a viable solution instead of the sleeve?)
Reply:I order from Speedy Metals for the DOM tubing I need, buy it by the inch length. This for some rollers I made. https://www.speedymetals.com/https://www.speedymetals.com/pc-3533...teel-tube.aspx

Reply:I have lot low cost drill press and mills.I found fill tub with concrete with a 1/2" NC all thread for tension. Dose a great job. Tub they use is very thin for shipping. Dave FYI to get extra 0.030 just send to chrome shop and have it plated .
