Are 3 phase HTP machines auto-sensing on the voltage? Or is there a switch or tap to change? The manuals just state ranges, but not a method to switch over so I assume they are auto-sensing. I have access to 208, but there are transformers for others (277, 480) - not sure any are possible to use though. Contemplating ideas...Last edited by FlyFishn; 03-31-2022 at 06:55 AM.
Reply:When contemplating buying a machine/welder or other major purchase, I call the customer service of that company. If they always answer the phone, and are helpful and knowledgeable, it makes me more apt to buy from them. Just remember someplaces have preferred methods of communication. I've had some companies that answer their E-mail instantly and others its always seems like there's a 24 hour delay (esab, maybe customer service email is done in europe ?) I dunno , but they always reply. I was only looking  for manuals, and parts. Some always answer the telephone , or call back within minutes (Prime weld) but emails seem to take a while (none of mine were urgent). Miller , and  Lincoln can be busy some days, but most are knowledgeable and if not , have someone else call or email. I've changed machine manufacturers because customer service was lousy before I bought the machine. Better to find out before you have thousands invested in a machine. What machine are you looking at , a MIG, or TIG machine. Only the big ones are three phase , I would love to take advantage of all the 3 phase power I have here at my factory.I would imagine Oscar will have an answer, I think has one each of all the HTP machines. Oh, and there is also a dedicated forum thread of HTP America in the Manufacturer Product Forums. Maybe post over there, last post looks like 11/21, they could use some traffic. Best of luckLast edited by albrightree; 03-31-2022 at 10:37 AM.Airco 250 ac/dc Heliwelder Square waveMiller Synchrowave 180 sdMiller Econo Twin HFLincoln 210 MPDayton 225 ac/dcVictor torchesSnap-On YA-212Lotos Cut60DPrimeweld 225 ac/dcPrimeweld mig180Miller AEAD-200

Reply:Thanks @Broccoli1 - that answered my question. Invertig 313 is what I had in mind down the road. It would have to run on single phase 240 also elsewhere, but if 3 phase is available it makes more sense to run off that for various reasons.
Reply:The 1/3-phase models are indeed auto-sensing, both with respect to voltage and phase.  They are what I consider top-of-the-line inverter machines from Stel. I run both of my 1/3-phase machines off 3-ph.  They will auto-sense any 3-ph voltage from 208V up to 575V.
