Hey guys/gals. New to the forum, basically looking for information on this millermatic 175. My dad passed away recently and it was his. I dont know much about welders. Just looking for info on what I have here, as well as what it all might be worth. Thanks

Reply:I've had one for about 20 yrs. Never bought a spool gun for it but I've run a lot of solid wire thru it and it doesn't owe me a dime. Mine doesn't have the mig/tig function either. If you want to sell it I don't know what it's worth.Ol' Stonebreaker "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Should be able to get north of 500 with all the goodies.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:I was going to say it would be worth an easy $1K with the goodies, but the machine has been modified. That machine wasn't designed to do TIG, and it seems like your dad made some modifications (the TIG/MIG switch). I personally would be a bit put off by that, not knowing what was done inside the machine. SO, all of that leads me back to agreeing with Cary (Sberry), probably around $500.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:Thank you. My dad did like to tinker and modify things. Theres no telling what exactly he did to it. He also had a Millermatic 211 but I think my brother wants it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Its an older model that was ok but didnt have a huge fan base due to some auto tuning features they had on later ones in the series. It was good, my neighbor has one, he can really make it work and is an expert, I never used it. Its prolly worth a bit more than I quote, hence the statement of north of 500 so somewhere between myself and Louie I spose. The spool and tank add a bit of value. Obviously you dont need it or would be keeping the thing, hard to replace for what it would sell for so to speak if that makes sense.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:Sorry about your father my condolences. Looks like a fun machine. Have no idea what it should sell for, but hope you get a fair price.Retired Old GuyHobart 210Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Tombstone Evolution 14 Saw
Reply:I bet its nice and in great shape. Likme most other stuff, you want to move it can do it with lower price or make more with good marketing. Not sure how tight or how u care about your brother etc. but before I gave it away I would check with family and or buds to give or give deal to for spare or spare bottle even to part it out. Granted its not much of a bottle but I amaze myself and not even pay attn and run one out in the middle of a job the other day. It would be a great spare or portable.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:The machine is old but not worn.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Just a guess, but I bet the switch is mislabeled. I bet it's for spoolgun/mig, not tig.
Reply:Wish I knew more about the switch. Whats just the spool gun go for? I can tell he used it obviously but it looks to be almost new.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:The spoolgun is mainly for welding aluminum because if it tries to push aluminum wire from the machine it has a tendency to birdnest where it feeds into the liner which would waste a lot of wire. I wanted to get one for mine but at that time it was $500 which was out of my budget.Ol' Stonebreaker "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Hard for me to imagine not keeping it. Only machine many/most people would ever need and I could save the money in a single event at todays prices. Its a machine most anyone with some experience could run, professional quality perfect arc if the operator adjusts it. I mentioned my neighbor, he has some machine tools and my helper and I were making a part. My first reaction is to run home and weld it or to weld it myself but John limped over to his 1 sq ft welding bench and fire up his 175, rolled the thing and no way you say it wasnt machine welded, I am pretty spiffy but this was something else and me and the helper didnt even say a word, I an sure John saw the glance but it was perfect and has that machine absolutely mastered. I didnt think of pic till we install it.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:My 2 cents.Early 175's had an issue with the Board failing over time.Later ones had a mod done that took care of the problem.I had my board rebuilt by a small company in Kentucky. Its all they did was repair welder boards.Anyways, I would estimate 750 to 1000 depending on where you live.BTW Where is this machine, if it is "For Sale"?
