Welding cable fire

This lead was included in a small inverter stick welder ,been sitting in my shop couple of years used it yesterday and could of been shop fire, setting EP 115 amp, found out lead is copper coated aluminum, this stuff corrodes to a white powder just from sitting "junk"

Reply:Copper coated aluminum does corrode in humid environments.  Sitting in a garage area lots of stuff stay out of the weather however weather creeps in in the form of oxidation. Glad you didn’t have bigger fireRetired Old GuyHobart 210Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Tombstone Evolution 14” Saw
Reply:Use only copper flex cables.The copper plate will flake off then down to smaller aluminum wire. Most transformers today on secondary side is aluminum only but on flex and works great. Dave
