We get enough show here in Michigan to wear out the cutting edge of the snow scooper in about 1-1/2 winter seasons. The rest of the scooper is in almost new condition, it is just the edge that gets worn out. The scoopers cost ~$60, so I thought that I would just replace the cutting edge. The following picture shows that even though the edge is badly worn the counter sink rivet in the countersunk hole is still holding.4. Countersink still holding
The first step for replacement is to drill out the old rivets using a #30 drill for the 1/8 rivets.5. Drilling out rivets

I use counter sink rivets, when possible, but a conventional button head rivet will also work, provided that you drill the hole with a countersink. The process of setting the rivet will drive the rivet into the countersunk hole. I have had trouble in the past with cheep rivet tools. This one is a quality one made by Marson and it still works fine after over 50 years.10.
