Reply:I just use the natural oscillation of my old shaking hand, one advantage of an old geezer
Reply:If it is just build up wire/rod I use stringers or small weave. If it is hardface wire/rod I will alternate stringers and weaves till I hit the thickness I want. Some Eutectic hardface you can go 1" thick. Also too depends on the situation. Sometimes I run criss cross pattern.
Reply:Some rod like STULZ for example limits to "2" passes. If you have to go more than that you'll need to build up with a 7018 and then your hard face passes.Lincoln 330 MPXModified TombstoneLincoln LN-25X-TVTMagnum PRO 250LX GT Spool Gun¼ Ton of Torches OFC-A / OFG-ASMAW FCAW GMAW Air Carbon Arc Gouging#Freebird Welds
Reply:I always ran stringers and amps low enough to lay down thick beads with space enough between so I could later lay beads in between when the originals wore down. Reply:When I'm hardsurfacing cultivator shovels, it's just one bird turd looking bead along the edge with lots of skipping around to keep from burning through. Sounds like you need to build up a lot more material... what are you working on?The harder you fall, the higher you bounce...250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
