Welding videos pop up daily on my Facebook, and for the most part, I find them entertaining rather than educational. One thing I have noticed is that most of them will show two pieces butted up together tight, welded together then they proceed to grind it back down smooth. How can this be worth anymore than decoration.
Reply:There are many things to consider, what is the finish wanted for the joined parts. Thin sheet metal (car body) you want a smooth finish, connecting part to be machined you want a deeper weld. This is why a bevel is ground on the edges that are joined with filler.
