Tungsten Grind Angle

Tungsten grind angle for mild steel? I will be using blue 2% lanthanated, probably running most things between 50-125 amps. Also I will not be buying a 300 dollar tungsten grinder, I will be using an angle grinder/belt sander. Thanks.
Reply:IMHO,,, Far too much is made of this, put a "point" of something like 3X the diameter of the electrode, and "blunt" it somewhere between not-at-all and a big-flat-spot depending on the joint (the flat directs more energy down into the joint, the point to the surrounding area).I don't know what level of Skill you'd need to be aware of Any welding difference between 2X dia. and 4X dia. but I'm never gonna get there

You've got to have just, pi$$-away money, to feel that a $300 tungsten grinder with which to set exact angles is even close to being a necessity!
Reply:Just put a point on the tungsten.  I would not blunt it, leave it pointy.  If you are asking these types of questions then you are probably going to have a lot more things to worry about when practicing.  Just keep it as simple as possible and as easy to repeat as possible.  At this point consistency will give you a lot more from your practice.

Reply:Okay, good to know, I only ask because I have heard different opinions on how important the angle is so I wanted to confirm. As for the $300 dollar tungsten grinder, that is ridiculous. Crazy how such a simple thing can be that overpriced.
