I have kinda a high profile job to be on tomorrow at a new waste treatment plant that has a couple of errors in design that i will be fixing . I have to meet the engineers for the plant at 930 am so they can tell me what they want done . With that in mind i was kinda worried about my 375 extreme if i run across some heavier stainless/aluminum work with everyone watching, so i brought home a new 45xp with me today to have just incase for tomorrow.  My questions are is their anything special i need to know about this machine? Any tricks to it? Any issues people have experienced with them ?
Reply:I love mine after coming from the smaller 30xp.  Cuts great.  Uses more air it seems.  Cuts off if you have an error.  Id give it a test run to get it figured out.  Post some pics
Reply:Leave it in the car.Drag the 3/8 in with you. Tell them you bought a heavier rig "just just in case". I consider that impressive.Go watch some vids. Its a plasma cutter, not a spaceship. If you have experience with the Spectrum the XP will be going in 5 minutes. In 10 minutes you'll put the 375 away........perhaps for good......... as long as 220 is on hand
Reply:Lol, i refuse to be out done . Especially when someone else is watching.  The proper tools on hand are how it's done
Reply:Supposedly the XP line features Carbon Gouging and fine cut consumables (i'm new to this also), allowing slower clean, precise cutting or the general stuff for rapid drag cuts. If you've used one before I doubt it's changed all that much, read manual, do some test cuts and enjoy!
Reply:The 45 XP from Hypertherm has the following features and capabilities:- Hypertherm's shielded technology torch. The shield allows you to drag right on the material with no double arcing (dramatically increases nozzle life) and no stiction (smoother, cleaner cuts.- Production cutting speeds to 5/8", severance cuts t0 1-1/4".-Auto cut gas setting. As long as the air inlet is supplied with between 90 psi and 135 psi....the critical cut gas pressure is automatically set regardless of the consumables of choice (Finecut for thinner than 10 gauge (with best quality), shielded 45 amp (for everything else)).- Onboard water/oil trap with particulate filter and auto drain.-Choice of gouging / marking modes (set mode switch) with automatic air settings for optimum performance.- Auto pilot restart in cutting mode for expanded metal cutting.....using a nozzle saver circuit that rapidly ramps current from cut arc to pilot arc and back to cut current / air flow settings.- Gouging and plate marking consumables available.- Will cut much faster and thicker than the 375 Extreme and will have about 3x the consumable life. Leave the 375 in the truck! If you have any questions contact Hypertherm directly (numbers and email contact info on the first page of the operators manual) or contact me at [email protected] . Let us know how it works for you!    Jim Colt

Reply:Finally broke down today and drug the 45xp out of the truck to see what it was made of , it really impressed me to say the least ... and never missed a lick cutting out and replacing a section of air header while it was pooring rain . I done my good deed for the day at the end and give my old 375 to my helper to help him get started with his welding business.  (I'm training and equipping my future competition)
Reply:doss,I think you should buy a Hypertherm 65 and take me on as a helper...just long enough for you to pass the 45xp on to me.  lolMike
Reply:Lol, it was hard to let it go , i thought about it all week. Me and that thing have seen many hard days together. But people have shown me generosity over the years so today was a good opportunity to pass it along . Plus i needed the room in my truck for the new one
Reply:That was really nice of you to pass that 375 down. Should serve him well.Glad to hear you're liking the 45. It's an amazing machine. I always just keep the manual in the box for troubleshooting, but I've never had any problems with mine.I do sometimes need to refer to the manual on my 30xp when it comes to switching to the fine cut consumables just to make sure I am using the right parts. Overall, I think you'll be super happy with your purchase.ESAB Powercut 1600/ Hypertherm 30XP + 45XP/ Lincoln Powermig 255/ Jet Band SawCheck out my plasma cutter reviews also!Current Project: 175 Gallon Reverse Flow BBQ Smoker!
Reply:I'm gonna give the 45xp two thumbs up at this point , only trouble ive had with it is a couple of idiot moments on my part . Once was trying to gouge before i read anything and i figured out to use the gouge tip , not just take the drag shield off and the other was a error code from a kinked air line .
