A little while back, a neighbor friend was asking me about a few items of equipment in my garage, and he was particularly interested in my old blue Harbor Freight plasma cutter. He mentioned seeing the follow-on version/similar product that HF replaced this model with in the stores, and asked me if they were the same with a different paint color, or ???? Having lost track of the HF offerings over the past couple years, I went onto the HF website to take a look at the specs, and find that they no longer list a plasma cutter for sale.Anyone know about this? If they're getting out of the market for plasma cutters, I guess I better see about buying up some torch consumables for mine (just in case.) I realize that there are a lot of other players in the market now for both plasma cutters and welding machines that would quite likely be a better option, but seeing as how I own one of these legacy machines, I can't help but wonder what the future looks like for HF. Reply:More than likely, they are going to release one or more under either the Titanium or Vulcan brands (or even both).
Reply:Have you looked on Ebay? Likely your consumables are used by some other brand, and there are specialists on there who list generic stuff as suitable for HF. The first owner of my MIG-180 added several non-HF improvements to make it closer to a name-brand welder. Reply:The blue/grey Central welders became black. I dont know much about their plasma cutters, but most Chinese machines use torches that are clones of OLD Hypertherm designs off-patent, so consumables are probably very easy to find.
